Long Time No........ Post

Hello! I know its been a long time since our last post. I know there is no excuse for this so I wont even try. The good news is this post will be full of information! We went home to visit in October. It was great to see all of you that we could! There is no place like home. Zac came back with us for 6 weeks, and then came again in January and will be leaving on Monday! :'(  He has been a great help to the congregation. We have no servants at the moment so he has been used a lot. (All you in KY should expect great things when he comes back.;) Tay and I have started teaching at a local collage. Its been a nice mix to the online teaching and has great benefits.  We have been really busy with service and work and the upcoming memorial.

That's enough about us, on the the good stuff! First of all we had two new ones baptized at the district convention in November! So please welcome our new brother Angel and our new sister Adriana.  And a few months later we had a new publisher, Claudia. Claudia is Taby's study. She is on fire! She was found in door to door work when Chris (taby's husband) knocked on the door and asked if anyone spoke English. The lady at the door said no and Chris left. Few seconds later Claudia burst out the door and chased Chris down, saying that she spoke English and asked if he needed help. A study was started on the spot. That was about 9 months ago. She never misses a meeting and changed her job schedule so she can go out more in the ministry. She is a wonderful addition to the congregation. Also in January we had a letter read form the Mexico branch asking for each of us (publishers in Mexico) to make a new publisher before August 2013. This is exciting and hopefully we can all reach that goal!

Now I thought I would give you a little information about our territory here in Zac. Zacatecas is a Spanish colonial city in the mountains in the center of Mexico. Zacatecas is also a state, we in Zac Ingles have 1/3rd of the state as out territory. But since we only have 19 publishers we are concentrating on Zac city then will spread out eventually.  Our preaching work consists of a two main components. First there is census work. basically we are going to every house in the city and asking if anyone in the house speaks English. Second is approach work, we go to public places and ask as many people as we can if they speak English. Our CO encouraged us to do this even more, as this is how many English speakers are found. During tract campaigns or invitation work, we go only to the homes where we know people speak English. Then we concentrate on approach work. So as you can tell good note taking is essential. This can prove difficult when the houses have no number or street name. (which happens a lot.) So we have learned to be creative.

  1. Hello there, I know this is an old blog/post, not even sure if you're still in Zacatecas?

We are a family who will be living (for 5-6 months) about 40 min south of Zac, close to Malpaso) early next year. We are in the English (Husband, Wife, 4 kids) (Elder, 2 Reg pioneers), and would like to join the Zac english cong while we are there. If you see this, please shoot me an email - mexicalisf@gmail.com. We will be contacting the branch to get COBE contact info, but found your blog and decided to message you as well to get "life" intel. :)

    Thanks in advance!
